Beatitudes: 8 attitudes Jesus highlights to increase our experience of his blessing in our lives.

Key to happiness: 6 Honest heart motives / Pure in heart

‘Blessed are the pure in heart, because they will see God. ‘ Matthew 5:8

This beatitude calls for us to undertake a moral inventory of the motives of our heart, our thoughts, attitudes and behaviours.  We need to face the unhealthy ways within us, allowing for the transformational power of God to change us from the inside. To be pure is to be clean or clear, as I take time to honestly process my own attitudes, I can be real with others about what is going on inside me.  I am positioned to receive healing and grow in wholeness.

  1. How might being honest with yourself help to promote heart transformation?
  2. As your heart is healed you are transformed into the image of Jesus.  How does this relate to the part of the verse that states ‘they will see God?’
  3. How might you be blessed if you live actively keeping your heart pure?
